Plain-language summary. We collect the email you sign in with, basic usage counts, and the lesson content you generate. We use a few trusted vendors (an AI provider, a payments processor, and analytics) to run the Service. We do not ask for, and the Service is not designed to collect, student personal information. Please do not enter student names or other student personal data into the Service.

1. Information we collect

Account information: the email address you use to sign in, and a one-time login code we send to verify it.
Content you provide: the prompts and inputs you submit (grade, subject, topic, objective, optional notes) and the lesson materials we generate for you, which we store so you can access your workspace across devices.
Usage information: aggregate counts used to enforce quotas and understand product usage (e.g., number of generations, feature events, approximate active-user counts).
Cookies: a session cookie to keep you signed in and an anonymous identifier cookie to count free trials. See "Cookies" below.
Payment information: if you upgrade to a paid plan, payment is processed by our Merchant of Record (see below). We do not receive or store your full card number.

2. How we use information

To provide, maintain, and improve the Service and generate your lesson materials.
To authenticate you, keep you signed in, and sync your workspace.
To enforce free-tier quotas and process paid upgrades.
To monitor reliability, prevent abuse, and understand aggregate usage.
To communicate with you about your account or the Service.

3. Service providers (sub-processors)

We share limited information with vendors who process it on our behalf:

AI provider ([e.g., OpenAI] or another model provider): the prompts and inputs you submit are sent to the provider to generate content. Do not include personal data you would not want processed by a third party.
Payments — Merchant of Record ([Lemon Squeezy]): handles checkout, billing, and tax as the seller of record; it processes your payment details directly.

We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the Service.

4. Student data & FERPA

EvidenceLesson is designed for educators and does not require or request personally identifiable information about students. We do not knowingly collect student education records.

Please do not enter student names, IDs, grades, or other student personal information into prompts or notes.
If a school or district engages us as a "school official" with a legitimate educational interest under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), we will, where applicable, act under the school's direction and enter into a data-processing agreement. Any content you save remains under your control; you can delete it from your workspace at any time.

5. Children's privacy & COPPA

The Service is intended for educators and other adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at [CONTACT EMAIL] and we will delete it.

6. Cookies

We use only the cookies needed to run the Service: a sid session cookie (to keep you signed in) and an aid cookie (an anonymous id used to count free trials). We do not use third-party advertising cookies. You can clear cookies in your browser, but the Service may not function correctly without the session cookie.

7. Data retention

We keep your account information and saved workspace while your account is active. Login codes and expired sessions are deleted automatically. You can delete saved documents from your workspace, and you can request deletion of your account and associated data at [CONTACT EMAIL].

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information (including encrypted transport and access controls). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing (for example, under the EU/UK GDPR or the California CCPA/CPRA).
